Content Notes

What are Content Notes?

Films in the program may contain material that could be distressing, disturbing, or retraumatizing for certain visitors. To give festival attendees the opportunity to prepare for or avoid confronting such topics, Tricky Women Tricky Realities provides Content Notes.

In addition to the general description of a film’s content – as found in the film descriptions – some films are also marked with Content Notes. These highlight films whose content may potentially be overwhelming. Find a list of all marked films below, films that contain content notes are also marked in the Festivals program folder.

In the cinema

Content Notes are an invitation to be mindful of personal boundaries and to help make the cinema a caring space. They are not intended as a warning about the program, but rather to support viewers in enjoying films thoughtfully and within their own limits. Attendees are encouraged to leave a screening if personal boundaries are crossed and are welcome to return for the next short film.

Guests are encouraged to contact the festival team if they feel that a film should have included a Content Note but does not – this can then be added for future screenings.
