CALL FOR ENTRIES: SUBMIT NOW FOR TRICKY WOMEN TRICKY REALITIES 2026

We are accepting animated films and/or Virtual/Mixed-Reality works for our anniversary edition. From March 11 to 15, 2026 we will celebrate 25 years of Tricky Women Tricky Realities! We can't wait to see your latest, daring, visionary animated films & VR/MR works. Our only parameters are that at least 50% of the film is animated and 50% of the directresses are female/genderqueer artists.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
The festival offers an international competition of animated films and VR/MR works finished after January 1st, 2024 and realized by female and/or genderqueer artists (male co-directors are welcome). Each filmmaker, producer or distributor may submit as many films as they like. No films entered in for previous editions of Tricky Women Tricky Realities can be submitted.
SPECIAL COMPETITION: VIRTUAL & MIXED REALITY
We welcome projects with high artistic quality and unique experiences that thrive in the virtual realm, both linear and non-linear narratives. This program is a cooperation with XR Austria.

SPECIAL CALLS: OUT OF COMPETITION
The special calls are not limited to current works – feel free to send us as many of your films as you like, whether recent or older (except for already submitted works). We are very much looking forward to receiving your entries!
Work Affairs: This program positions labor as a lens through which we can view the world. This can include (but is not limited to) films about economic exploitation, emancipation, care work, maternal/domestic/emotional labor and how we determine value.
Feminist Topics: This program explores asymmetrical power dynamics relative to gender and feminist issues. With a particular focus on intersectional feminist perspectives, this program engages with issues of race, class, gender identity and politics, sexuality, ability and other systems of power.
Fair Play: This program navigates the paths to justice in inherently unjust systems and creates spaces for community, collectivity, utopias, and alternative visions of a just world. Amongst many others topics could include equality of opportunity, intersectional feminist struggles, climate justice.
Animated Documentaries: This program is dedicated to the multifaceted intersections between animation and documentary.
