Die Gewinnerinnen vom Jubiläumsfestival Tricky Women 2011 stehen fest! Aus 41 hochkarätigen Wettbewerbsbeiträgen wählte die Jury – Esther Leslie (Professor of Political Aesthetics, University of London), Dina Goder (Kultur- und Filmpublizistin, Theaterwissenschaftlerin, Moskau), Karin Mairitsch (Leiterin des Studiengangs MultiMediaArt an der FH Salzburg) – die Preisträgerinnenfilme.

Der Tricky Women Preis der Stadt Wien (dotiert mit 4.000 Euro) geht an die finnische Filmemacherin Elli Vuorinen und ihren Film „Kielitiettyni/The Tongueling“ (FI 2010):

Kielitiettyni / The Tongueling

Elli Vuorinen, FI 2010, 04:15

Wooden knocks are echoing in a frozen landscape where a lonesome man is searching for a tongueling of his own.

Jury's statement: It walks on a fine line between something tabooised and repellant and something human and warm. It achieves this through its particular visual language and sound design.

Das dreimonatige Arbeitsstipendium des „Artist in Residence“ Programms im quartier21/MQ erhält Michaela Müller aus der Schweiz für „Miramare“ (CH/HR 2009:

Miramare

Michaela Müller, CH/HR 2009, 08:08

A look at life on the Mediterranean borders of Europe, where tourists try to relax in strictly confined zones while “illegal” immigrants struggle for a chance for a better life. When a storm hits the shore, almost all distinctions between rich and poor are washed away.

Jury's statement: It evokes the atmosphere of life, intensified because it is through the eyes of children. The painterly technique is magnificent.

Den Synchro Film&Video-Sachpreis gewinnt „Sinna Mann/Angry Man“ (NO 2009) von Anita Killi. Für die Filme „V Masstabe / In Scale" (RU 2009) von Marina Moshkova, sowie „Kuka Kehtaa?/Who Dares?" von Sanni Lahtinen (FI 2010) und „Die Gedanken sind frei/Thoughts are Free“ (DE 2009) von Urte Zintler vergab die Jury jeweils eine spezielle Erwähnung.

Angry Man / Sinna Mann

Anita Killi, NO 2009, 20:00

A man beats his wife and their son is the witness. That’s a secret that shouldn’t be secret.

Jury's statement: It takes the fairy tale into a new context. Its visual language of anger is extremely affecting and original.

V Masstabe / In Scale

Marina Moshkova, RU 2009, 07:14

A little bird is building a nest and collects food for its newborn. This leads to unexpected consequences on a large scale.

Jury's statement: Its analytical humour is very impressive. The strong control of line reveals its complete opposite, chaos – rendering the destructive of logic.

Kuka Kehtaa? / Who Dares?

Sanni Lahtinen, FI 2010, 03:53

People of the city gather to honour their leader, but a shameless whistle disturbs the worshipping.

Jury's statement: Could this be a manual for us, to encourage us to deflate and unmask our rulers?

Die Gedanken sind frei / Thoughts Are Free

Urte Zintler, DE 2009, 04:31

An elderly woman sings a traditional German song about the freedom of thought but has problems with her memory.

Jury's statement: It is a poetry of forgetting and remembering, with a visual and sonic language that allows us to see both, what remains and what falls away.

Preis für einen österreichischen Animationsfilm, dotiert mit 500 Euro gestiftet von Hubert Sielecki:

Looking for Love

A dog full of unfulfilled yearning glimpses on orange on TV. He goes looking for it and, ultimately, for himself – and he makes a find …

Fröken Märkvärdig & Karriären / Miss Remarkable And Her Career

Joanna Rubin Dranger, SE 2010, 29:30

A film full of gallows humour about Miss Remarkable and her struggle with her inner demons, parental expectations and a career meltdown.
